Tooth Earrings in Oak
Human molar earrings carved from locally-sourced oak, with hypoallergenic stainless steel hooks.
I’ve been obsessed with teeth for as long as I can remember, and have featured them more than a few times in my artwork. My mother was a dentist, so I’m sure that had something to do with it. My current fascination focuses on animal teeth, but I’ve never lost my appreciation for the lowly human molar.
Carved out of oak, this open-grain wood has short streaks which contour beautifully around the curves of each tooth. Famously dense, I chose this wood for its durability and expected more of a challenge carving it, but it was actually rather receptive and these were quite fun to make.
Note on variation:
These pieces are hand-carved from rough cut locally sourced lumber. You can expect small variations in colouring, grain pattern, and shape from the depicted image.
